“If there is no God, than everything is allowed, and men makes his own laws.” – says Dostoyevsky, idea which can be found in many of his writings. The main idea of his last novel, The Brothers Karamazov, focuses on a philosophical and ethical message. The heroes of the novel – the rebel Ivan, the unbridled Dmitri and the god-fearing Alexei – are archetypal characters, bearers of great opportunities of the Russian society. Still, their faith is a tragical one – they kill their father – and this leads to the rejection of the religious world, rebellion against power and to games of passion and suffering.

Richard Cane, does not simply makes a stage adaptation of Dostoyevsky’s masterpiece, but also highlights the central characters, the four protagonists, and makes them play all the other characters.
