When financial strain takes its toll on brothers Frank and Joe, a large sum of money looks like a rescue plan. For a short time, the idea works, but familly issues, a poor education, existential drift and the premature death of their mother can’t be easily fixed. There’s a need for something extra. The help offered by Ray, a young, wominizing, drunken and immoral academic is welcome, but one has his own demons to defeat. Could friendship be the answer to all of these problems? In fact, there is any real friendship at all?
The play written by Conor McPherson (author of The Seafarer) depicts an unsettling perspective on the human relationships frequently marked by selfishness and ruthlessness, shows the deceiving aspects of trusting others and the murky waters of growing up in a society where innocence and honesty do not count as capital virtues.
Cristi Juncu, one of the most important theatre directors in Romania returns on the stage of the National Theatre of Târgu-Mureş following the succesful productions of The School for Wives and The Seafarer whith a new performance having an outstanding cast: Marius Turdeanu – three times UNITER nominee for the Best Actor Award –, Theo Marton and Cristian Iorga.
